Aisin automatic in Spider 124

I've owned my Lusso for 1800 miles and I'm not happy with the programming of the transmission. In select shift mode, I cannot go into 5th gear until 50mph and 6th until 60mph. If I were racing that would be ok. There is no indication (light etc.) It just won't let me do it. Has anyone else encountered this or is it just my car? In drive mode sometimes it holds 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gear too long (3000rpm). This is with moderate (normal) acceleration.

I'm confused, you want it to upshift before 3,000 rpm? The turbo has barely spooled up; these Italian engines are designed to rev!
